Project goals and objectives:
strengthen capacities of 27 Academic Staff in 7 Higher Education Institution (HEI) of Ukraine and Georgia in the design and elaboration of new training material (First Aid Guides for Staff, Students and Community Representatives) through experience-sharing, guidance and technical assistance from partner institutions operating in Spain and Portugal:
benefit 242 Staff and Students of 7 HEIs in Ukraine and Georgia through capacity building in teaching and provision of First Aid, including core elements of Life Support and Pre-hospital Trauma Care;
strengthen life-saving First Aid skills among 7,200 members of communities living in Military Risk Areas of Ukraine and Georgia, as the final beneficiaries of Capacity Building in Higher Education (CBHE);
provide essential First Aid training equipment (including simulators) to 3 partner medical universities in Ukraine.
Activities:
establishing a Board of Trainers in community-oriented BLS and Pre-hospital Trauma Care with representatives of 9 partner HEI of the Consortium (Year 1, Q1);
development of community-oriented BLS and Pre-hospital Trauma Care Modules (Year 1, Q2) for 6 universities of Georgia and Ukraine through support of partner universities in Spain and UK by end of Year 1;
training 3 Faculty Staff in community-oriented BLS and Pre-hospital Trauma Care in each of the 6 universities in Ukraine and Georgia (Year 1, Q2);
purchasing training supplies (manikins and other training materials) for 3 universities in Ukraine (Year 1, Q3-Q4). Georgian universities to ensure the supplies through their own budgets;
training 36 Medical Students in community-oriented BLS and Pre-hospital Trauma Care in each of the 6 universities in Ukraine and Georgia (Year 1, Q3-Q4);
inclusion of community-oriented BLS and Pre-hospital Trauma Care Modules as part of the Medical Curriculum in 6 universities of Georgia and Ukraine and partners universities in Spain and UK (Year 1 Q4 – Year 2 Q2);
5-day outreach capacity-building sessions for communities living in or neighboring regions to the Russian-occupied territories of Ukraine and Georgia (Year 1, Q4 – Year 3, Q2) involving 36 Student Trainers and 18 Master Trainers as supervisors. Each Master Trainer to supervise a group of 5 Student Trainers in the field;
training 21,600 individuals living in or neighboring regions to the Russian-occupied territories of Ukraine and Georgia in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Pre-hospital Trauma Care (Year 1, Q4 – Year 3, Q2);
purchasing basic health supplies for the training of 21,600 individuals living in or neighboring regions to the Russian-occupied territories of Ukraine and Georgia in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Pre-hospital Trauma Care (Year 1, Q4 – Year 3, Q2). The budget includes procurement of relevant materials for 10,800 community representatives in Ukraine. Georgian Universities to provide supplies through their own budgets;
regular monitoring and evaluation of the project implementation (quarterly Year 1-3);
regular reporting on the project progress by TMA, Compostela, Ternopil in partnership with other HEIs of the consortium (semi-annual Year 1-3).
